The survey was designed to learn what types of data fire departments collect; what software they use to capture, store and analyze data; and how they use that data for local decision-making. The survey was not intended as a complete census of all fire departments in the United States, it is part of a concerted effort to assess the needs of the fire service. The outreach and reporting were conducted as part of NFPA’s effort to develop a National Fire Data System using an Assistance to Firefighters Grant.
The Metropolitan “Metro” Fire Chiefs Association, a Section of the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) held its 2017 annual conference in Orange County/Orlando, Florida from April 7-13. A total of 150 projects were selected from 420 entries that span 42 states and Washington, D.C. As a co-sponsor of Preparedness Day, State Farm, with its long history of providing proactive wildfire safety education to its policyholders in high-risk regions, is providing $500 each to help fund these winning community projects.
The latest issue of NFPA Journal®, the official magazine for the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), examines the proliferation of unconventional buildings and the unique fire and life safety challenges they pose.
