Have you watched a live broadcast of a Zip Trip on Fox 25 TV yet? Briefly, here is the overview of the program.....
Every Friday morning, from April - August, Fox 25 newscasters report live from a different zip code in the state of MA, highlighting all the wonderful reasons to visit that town. They bring in the camera crew and set up in one area of the town where they perform live interviews with the locals, including businesses and civic groups. They also "visit" in advance and shoot interviews and locations which air during the live broadcast. In addition, at least one of the newscasters is someplace in the town shooting remotely for the live broadcast, hanging out with the locals.
It took Fox 25 TV a while to discover that Millis is a great community worth talking about, and now we need your help with the event.
WANTED: Early Morning risers who would like to have some fun and be part of history. Show your community spirit along with other Millis residents on Friday, August 1, 2008 from 6 am - 9 am when Fox 25 TV broadcasts their morning newscast LIVE at the Oak Grove Farm Children's Playground and Children's Garden. Come and enjoy the live broadcast, which highlights various aspects about Millis, to include interviews with our local residents, historians, restaurant owners, students, politicians, local celebrities, etc. We have no idea who the producers have lined up for the show. but it is exciting to think it may be one of us! Will Doug do the traffic report from his helicopter and land in Millis? Will Cindy to the weather from Oak Grove Farm? What will Gene and V.B. say about the Cliquot Eskimos? Only the producers and the Newscasters know for sure - so it will be a surprise to all the Millis residents who will be there watching the live broadcast, or watching from home on their TV's.
Most importantly, we really need the residents of Millis there at Oak Grove Farm to show your support for the town. Come on down and enjoy the live broadcast, and bring your community spirit!

Fox 25 TV Children's Book Drive - What we are asking from residents.
Fox 25 TV collects new children's books from all the towns it visits. Last year the book drive totaled over 2, 500 books! So now it is time to show the world that Millis Loves to Read! Millis Residents are encouraged to donate a new book or books for underprivileged children ages 6 months to 5 years. Bring the book or books with you on Fri, August 1 from 6 am - 9 am during the live broadcast and drop it in the donation bin at Oak Grove Farm Children's Playground. The other option is, bring the book or books to the Millis Public Library between July 21 and July 31 during library hours only. We'll make sure these books get to the Zip Trip event at Oak Grove Farm on the morning of the live broadcast. Last year, Middleboro was the highest donor with #1,112 books. Please consider donating to this Children's Book Drive by buying a new hard cover or paper back book to donate. This program is affiliated with the Reach out and Read Program, and the donations are distributed to children throughout New England. Thank you Millis for supporting the Children's Book Drive!
